INGLESIDE — Construction of the long-awaited Canadian Bio Pellet Inc. plant in Ingleside is set for September following investor delays related to the economic downturn, a company official said.
The company has now secured financing through European-based investors, company CEO Dan Stasko confirmed.
“Green energy is a hot topic that investors are really moving towards, but they still need to do due diligence,” Stasko said. “It’s an ever-changing market in a an ever-changing world.”
Construction was originally set to begin last year on the 60-acre spread of land that will host Canada’s newest and largest wood-pelleting facility to develop bioenergy.
The $80-million development process has been in the works since 2007, but may not have its production lines at full capacity until until late 2011, Stasko said.
