Biomass projects mired in motions, controversy in VT

The Vermont Public Services Board will hear testimony about two proposed Beaver Wood LLC biomass/wood pellet production mills in the next 10 days. The board will decide whether to grant Beaver Wood certificates of public good.
If the biomass projects, in Fair Haven and Pownal, obtain permission from the board, additional permits will be necessary.
Beaver Wood plans to build a 29.5-megawatt wood incineration biomass facility, with wood pellet production, at each location. Excess heat produced at the facilities would be used to dry pellets at the pellet mills…
